Four legal must-haves

I’m taking a look at your websites’ legal obligations today, four of which I have listed below so you can check to see if your website is compliant.

Do you have these covered?

Terms of Use/Service – This policy defines the terms that govern the use of your site, the services you provide through it, and the relationship between you and the users. It should cover acceptable use, user content, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and more.

Privacy Policy – This is to explain how you collect, use, and protect any personal data or information provided by site visitors. It should clearly spell out what data you collect, why you need it, who you share it with, and how long you retain it.

Cookie Policy – If you use cookies or tracking technologies on your site, you need to provide information about what they do, the data collected, and controls users have to disable them. This can be incorporated into the privacy policy.

Company Name and Address – you need to include the name of your company, along with a geographic address, on your website. If you are a sole trader you must provide your your legal identity (aka your name).
